For those of you in ANTH 204 who are interested in reading this recent article from the Guardian newspaper….. The author, Tony Wild, is responsible for bringing coffee processed through the digestive tract of a small wild cat (the cirvet) to the “masses”, or at least those interested in using a food item like this to signal power and wealth. He is now urging people to stop buying it! Such an interesting example of what can happen when items become commodities in large economic systems.
